Head of IT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the strategy, roadmap, budget, and vendor landscape for internal IT, covering support, business applications, integrations, automation, and internal AI tools.

• Lead, expand, and nurture the IT Support and IT Tooling & Automation teams.

• Operate IT as an employee-centric product by evaluating service experience, showcasing completed work, and prioritizing based on business impact.

• Manage, integrate, and streamline critical SaaS systems across CRM, marketing, finance, billing, HR, support, collaboration, and engineering.

• Create API-driven workflows and facilitate data synchronization across various platforms.

• Oversee vendor selection, consolidation, licensing, and renewals.

• Advocate for code-first automation utilizing scripts, internal services, event-driven pipelines, CLI tools, and ChatOps.

• Develop and enhance automated onboarding, offboarding, identity/access provisioning, and IT self-service solutions.

• Establish high technical standards for the IT Tooling & Automation group, review designs, and contribute actively.

• Manage the internal AI tool portfolio, encompassing evaluation, procurement, administration, usage/cost governance, and lifecycle management.

• Implement AI-driven support assistants, knowledge retrieval, ticket triage/resolution, and agentic operational automation.

• Collaborate with AI Enablement and AI champions to foster adoption.

• Define AI data handling, model, and vendor guidelines in conjunction with Security and Legal.

• Assess AI adoption, costs, and productivity returns.

• Provide person-first IT support with a focus on root-cause analysis.

• Manage employee identity and device systems, including SSO/SAML/SCIM, identity lifecycle automation, MDM, password management, and access audits under Zero Trust.

• Collaborate with Information Security to ensure ISO 27001 compliance and audit readiness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in IT engineering, business systems engineering, or internal platform engineering at SaaS/tech companies, including at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing internal business systems and automation.

• Practical engineering background; capability to read, review, and write automation code in Python or a similar language.

• Proficient in APIs, webhooks, OAuth flows, and integration frameworks.

• Proven track record of managing a modern SaaS business application landscape, including cross-system integration and data synchronization at scale.

• Experience in delivering AI tools within an organization, covering account administration, seat and usage governance, cost control, and establishing guardrails.

• Strong background in identity and security: SSO/SAML/SCIM, identity lifecycle automation, MDM (e.g., JumpCloud), and Zero Trust access models.

• Familiarity with supporting or undergoing security and compliance audits (ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR).

• Experience in vendor and budget management across a significant SaaS portfolio.

• Background in providing services to a remote-first, globally distributed workforce with a person-first service approach.

• Exceptional English communication skills, catering to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive levels.

• Nice-to-haves: experience with agentic platforms and protocols, Claude/Gemini Enterprise/OpenAI/Copilot ecosystems, FinOps-style AI and cloud spend governance, SRE mindset applied to internal IT, and consolidation of tool landscapes post-growth or M&A.
