Head of Infrastructure – Service Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Define and implement the operational infrastructure and service strategy for the organization across cloud, network, security, and on-premises environments.

• Manage and optimize Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud platforms to guarantee scalability, resilience, and performance.

• Oversee service operations, encompassing incident management, change control, monitoring, service reporting, and capacity planning.

• Establish and maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for critical business systems, ensuring high availability and operational excellence.

• Lead vendor management for infrastructure and operations, including cloud providers, managed service partners, and technology suppliers.

• Promote automation and operational efficiency through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, and contemporary cloud management practices.

• Implement infrastructure cost optimization initiatives while upholding service quality and security standards.

• Supervise disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring regular testing and ongoing improvement.

• Ensure that infrastructure services meet the needs of regulated environments and support future organizational growth.

• Build and nurture a high-performing infrastructure and service operations team.

• Oversee the infrastructure and service operations function supporting case management, finance, client services, and broader business operations.

• Collaborate closely with the CTO and senior stakeholders to develop an infrastructure strategy that supports business growth, security, resilience, and cost efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in leading IT infrastructure and service operations functions, including senior leadership experience in a Head of Department or Director-level position.

• In-depth technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.

• Demonstrated experience in managing infrastructure within highly regulated organizations where uptime, resilience, and security are paramount.

• Strong understanding of IT service management principles, including incident, problem, change, and capacity management.

• Experience in managing complex supplier and vendor relationships with a strong commercial acumen.

• Proven success in cloud cost optimization and infrastructure efficiency initiatives.

• Ability to balance operational reliability, cybersecurity demands, and budgetary considerations.

• Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the capability to influence at all levels of the organization.

• Experience in, or familiarity with, regulated sectors.

• Knowledge of ITIL, Azure architecture frameworks, and best practices in infrastructure governance.

• Experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, automation, and container-based technologies.

• Relevant certifications, such as ITIL or equivalent.

• Experience leading technology modernization or cloud transformation initiatives.
