This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Take ownership of the HR system and oversee the employee lifecycle from the acceptance of offers through to offboarding.
β’ Ensure employee records, contracts, and documentation are well-maintained and ready for audits across various employment types and geographical locations.
β’ Address sensitive employee relations issues, including investigations, disputes, accommodations, and terminations.
β’ Provide coaching to managers to mitigate the escalation of employee relations problems.
β’ Manage the compensation philosophy, including banding, benchmarking, and benefits programs.
β’ Collaborate with finance to coordinate decisions regarding compensation, payroll, headcount planning, and changes in compensation.
β’ Develop and implement a streamlined performance management system that encompasses goals, feedback, reviews, and calibration.
β’ Ensure compliance with employment laws across the states and countries where employees are based.
β’ Partner with recruiting teams on strategies for offers, hiring compliance, interviewing practices, onboarding, and coaching hiring managers.
β’ Drive employee engagement initiatives while providing guidance on retention strategies and enhancing the employee experience.
β’ Oversee the management and development of the People team.
β’ Offer strategic advice to the COO and founders regarding organizational design, personnel issues, and potential risks related to people.
β’ A minimum of 8 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within an HR function or a significant area in a company of similar size (approximately 150 to 500 employees), preferably during a period of rapid growth.
β’ Proven track record in building and scaling HR operations for both US-based employees and a global workforce.
β’ Extensive experience in employee relations, including direct involvement in investigations, terminations, and high-level personnel issues.
β’ Strong background in employment compliance, especially with multi-state regulations; experience in healthcare, telehealth, or other regulated industries is a plus.
β’ Practical experience in compensation banding, benchmarking, and offer design.
β’ Proficient in collaborating closely with finance on payroll, headcount planning, and adjustments in compensation.
β’ Comfortable serving as the most senior HR representative in the organization and making independent judgment calls.
β’ High level of discretion when handling confidential matters.
β’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document decisions and provide independent counsel effectively.
β’ Willingness and ability to work in the United States or Canada, as specified by the listed remote locations.
