This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the strategy to support university groups focused on AI safety.

• Determine the integration of programs and identify which initiatives to initiate, discontinue, or expand.

• Introduce new initiatives such as regional organizers, residency programs, and targeted university assistance.

• Establish funding criteria for groups and organizers and oversee the allocation of financial resources.

• Advocate for Kairos’s university group initiatives to organizers, academic institutions, funders, and partner organizations.

• Define new roles and oversee the hiring and onboarding processes for the groups team.

• Manage and lead the groups team as it expands.

• Contribute to the overall organizational strategy, new program development, and collaborative initiatives.

• Report directly to Neav Topaz, co-director.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in organizing an AI safety university group (or similar), managing supportive programs, or working closely with the organizer community.

• Insights on how fieldbuilding can translate into tangible impact.

• Adequate context within the AI safety ecosystem to evaluate promising groups, organizers, and strategic investments.

• Strong judgment regarding personnel, including decisions on which organizers to support and hiring choices.

• An ambitious and proactive mindset.

• Significant concern for the risks posed by advanced AI and a belief in the effectiveness of university groups as a viable intervention.

• Preference for candidates who can attend meetings in the Eastern Time zone.

• Visa sponsorship may be available depending on individual circumstances, but it is not guaranteed.
