Head of Global Medical Affairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish and oversee the medical affairs department to facilitate the commercial introduction of new products to the market.

• Direct, manage, and nurture a high-achieving medical affairs team along with associated support functions.

• Identify, define, and execute processes and operational procedures for this team that align with the established guidelines for the development organization.

• Build and supervise a Medical Science Liaison team as well as a Medical Information team.

• Create and implement strategies for Medical Communication and Disease State Awareness.

• Formulate and carry out life cycle management plans.

• Collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to gather insights on current issues and inquiries within the focused therapeutic areas.

• Spearhead the creation of product publication plans, KOL engagement strategies, medical education initiatives, advisory boards, medical symposia, congress events, and compassionate use/post-trial access programs.

• Work alongside Clinical Development and Commercial teams to develop educational materials for providers and patients that are medically accurate and suitable.

• Have a comprehensive understanding of government and industry standards, regulations, laws, etc., for appropriate scientific/medical communication and exchange with clients.

• Offer guidance and insights to provide integrated evidence that supports effective reimbursement and market-access strategies.

• Collaborate closely with the senior management team to shape the overall strategic vision for Praxis; assess alternative strategies, recognize competitive challenges, leverage core strengths, and develop and execute operating plans to meet objectives for sustainable growth.

• Represent Praxis at conferences, presentations, industry events, and investment gatherings.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced Scientific or Clinical degree is essential (MD, PhD or PharmD) with a proven commitment to neuroscience.

• At least 15 years of relevant experience in a medical affairs leadership role within the pharmaceutical sector, including global exposure.

• Proven capability to build, lead, and cultivate a team of high-performing and motivated medical affairs professionals.

• A visionary business leader with a history of inspiring, influencing, and supporting both direct and cross-functional teams.

• Experience thriving in a small or entrepreneurial environment is preferred.

• Strongly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey complex scientific data and concepts to audiences with varying levels of scientific and technical understanding.

• Excellent grasp of healthcare and an eagerness for business opportunities.

• Customer-oriented: Maintain a focus on patients, payers, and physicians in daily operations and collaborate to address critical scientific and business challenges.

• Capable of leading by example, attracting and nurturing talent, fostering interdependent partnerships, and creating a collaborative culture that encourages open communication, constructive conflict resolution, and organizational adaptability.

• Extensive experience in the launch and commercialization of specialty drugs, along with direct interaction with the FDA and international regulatory bodies, is highly desirable.
