Head of Global Logistics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Take charge of end-to-end warehousing and last-mile delivery across Australia, the US, the UK, and Europe.

• Steer expansion efforts into growing markets like Canada.

• Oversee regional Logistics Managers, their teams, and partners in the UK, Ireland, Europe, USA, Canada, and Australia.

• Create a cohesive global logistics strategy that emphasizes commercial rigor and clear operational standards.

• Assist with the expansion of UK 3PL, which includes contracting and integrating a new partner.

• Design logistics frameworks to facilitate US retail growth and develop commercial models for a review of the US retail range.

• Collaborate with Finance on reporting architecture and leverage AI for deeper insights into cost drivers.

• Manage carrier RFPs, negotiations, and executive decision-making processes.

• Mentor teams through 3PL rate-review negotiations.

• Provide guidance on business cases for initiatives like dedicated branded electric vehicle fleets.

• Integrate logistics cost considerations into product design decisions.

• Spot AI optimization opportunities throughout the team and within the global technology stack.


⛳️ Requirements

• Profound understanding of the economics surrounding last-mile delivery and warehousing, including cost drivers and market dynamics.

• Capability to break down cost per order into its components and model network design alternatives.

• Competence in constructing capital business cases.

• Background in carrier negotiations and a solid grasp of the opposing cost structures.

• Experience in making structural logistics decisions, such as choosing between aggregator versus direct, make versus buy, and automation investments.

• Ability to maintain a balance between five-year and next-quarter outlooks.

• Proficiency in fostering a metrics- and insight-driven culture.

• Experience leading established regional Logistics Managers in global markets.

• Ability to mentor and develop high-performing senior talent.

• Skill in building robust cross-functional partnerships.

• Experience in designing AI-enabled workflows and processes.

• Understanding of AI, technology architecture, and the role of human judgment in the process.

• Empathy and consideration when guiding teams through transformational changes.
