Head of Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Act as the Head of Finance for Payward Europe Digital Solutions, a MiFID firm located in Cyprus.

• Assist in drafting and refining financial compliance policies, procedures, and programs.

• Prepare, monitor, and sustain essential financial metrics mandated by regulations.

• Comprehend and convey the organization’s revenues, P&L, balance sheet, and overall financial health.

• Gather data and submit financial reports to regulatory bodies.

• Aid internal stakeholders and auditors with the audited annual financial statements.

• Supervise the implementation of financial policies and internal controls.

• Address finance-related regulatory inquiries in collaboration with Compliance.

• Manage monthly and quarterly financial closings.

• Prepare and oversee local entity budgets.

• Regularly report financial matters to the CCO, CEO, and Board of Directors.

• Direct project management for financial initiatives.

• Collaborate across various functions to support deliverables and the preparation of financial statements.

• Assist in defining and approving business requirements for financial and related systems, ensuring system compliance with those requirements.

• Supervise EEA-specific internal financial controls and mitigate residual risks beyond the firm's risk appetite.

• Coordinate with Treasury and Banking & Payments teams.

• Aid Compliance and Regulatory Legal teams in reviewing new and modified laws and executing remediation plans.

• Provide financial support for new license applications and renewals.

• Monitor, test, and ensure adherence to asset-segregation regulations.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by PEDSL leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12–15 years of experience with a Bachelor’s/Master’s in financial analysis, regulatory reporting, or a related field.

• 3–5 years of experience in the fintech or a relevant industry.

• Expert-level proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools.

• Strong knowledge of financial regulatory requirements, compliance, and financial reporting standards.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to work independently and manage multiple tasks at once.

• Responsible for all financial and treasury reconciliations for PEDSL, including client funding reconciliations, for senior management approval.

• Ability to create a strong control environment.

• Experience with MiFID II and associated custodial/safeguarding regulatory requirements.

• ACA or another relevant certification.

• A passion for or growing interest in cryptocurrency adoption; personal crypto experience is preferred.

• A relevant degree in Finance or Accounting is considered a plus.

• Experience in cryptocurrency or fintech is regarded as a plus.

• Familiarity with MiFID II regulatory requirements and processes is seen as a plus.

• Prior experience with regulation of virtual asset services or money service businesses in Cyprus or a similar regulatory environment is viewed as a plus.

• Ability to work collaboratively with Group Finance and other internal partners is seen as a plus.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are regarded as a plus.
