Head of Engineering – Field Verification

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Field Verification platform from start to finish.

• Provide direction for a domain that lacks dedicated engineering leadership.

• Transition the platform from maintenance mode to intentional, prioritized development.

• Lead and enhance the current cross-functional team while expanding the organization as the scope grows.

• Develop trip and route optimization, task allocation, and capacity management for field officers.

• Manage APIs, webhooks, and the back office utilized by other business units.

• Deliver an exceptional native mobile experience for field officers.

• Ensure that verification data is organized, auditable, and meets compliance standards.

• Prepare for multi-country expansion.

• Collaborate with Product, onboarding, loans, compliance, and fraud business units.

• Establish architecture standards, engineering processes, and quality metrics.

• Recruit and mentor engineers and Engineering Managers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Have built products directly and progressed into leadership roles from engineering.

• Possess skills across backend, web, and mobile platforms.

• Experience in developing platforms serving various distinct user groups and internal business units.

• Demonstrated adaptability across industries; experience in fintech, e-commerce, or logistics is a positive indicator.

• Over 10 years of comprehensive software engineering experience.

• Significant hands-on production engineering experience with strong backend expertise.

• Proficient in Java and Spring Boot.

• At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including managing Engineering Managers.

• Ability to work collaboratively with product and business stakeholders to translate operational needs into engineering solutions.

• Familiarity with location and geospatial data, including map integrations, is a strong advantage.

• Experience in route, trip, or delivery optimization is a strong plus.

• Background in building for compliance is a strong plus.

• Experience with identity, KYC, or verification platforms is an advantage, but not mandatory.
