Head of Engineering, Field Verification

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Field Verification platform from start to finish.

• Transition the platform from a maintenance-focused operation to intentional, prioritized development.

• Lead and expand the current cross-functional team while developing the organization as the scope grows.

• Develop trip and route optimization, task allocation, and capacity management systems for field officers.

• Manage APIs, webhooks, and the back office utilized by various business units.

• Provide a native mobile experience tailored for field officers.

• Ensure that verification data is well-structured, auditable, and meets compliance requirements.

• Build the platform to support expansion into multiple countries.

• Collaborate with Product, onboarding, loans, compliance, and fraud business units.

• Establish architecture standards, engineering processes, and quality metrics.

• Recruit and nurture engineers and Engineering Managers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in building products personally and progressing into leadership roles from an engineering background.

• Proficient across backend, web, and mobile disciplines.

• Proven experience in constructing platforms that serve multiple distinct user groups and internal business units.

• Flexible problem solver; experience in various industries is a favorable indication.

• Over 10 years of comprehensive software engineering experience.

• Significant hands-on experience in production engineering with a strong backend focus.

• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot.

• At least 5 years of leadership experience in engineering, including managing Engineering Managers.

• Ability to work collaboratively with product and business stakeholders to translate operational needs into engineering solutions.

• Strong experience with location and geospatial data, including map integrations, is highly advantageous.

• Experience in route, trip, or delivery optimization is a significant plus.

• Background in compliance-focused development is a strong advantage.

• Experience with identity, KYC, or verification platforms is a plus, though not mandatory.
