Head of Digital Publishing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Oversee the digital-first publishing pipeline for PC and console platforms, including Steam, Epic, GOG, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo.

• Strategize and implement go-to-market initiatives for each release, focusing on positioning, store visibility, wishlist campaigns, public relations, creator and community engagement, as well as pricing and promotional planning.

• Manage the Digital Publishing P&L, which encompasses title-level cost and revenue forecasting, margin management, and tracking profitability.

• Cultivate licensor relationships and navigate approval processes, particularly emphasizing collaboration with Japanese partners.

• Identify, assess, and negotiate new projects related to classic re-releases, remakes, and retro-inspired indie titles.

• Handle term sheets and contract negotiations.

• Supervise external development partnerships at the portfolio level, establishing delivery expectations, quality standards, and escalation procedures.

• Develop and maintain direct relationships with key platform holders such as Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Valve.

• Increase catalog revenue through strategic pricing, promotional planning, and platform features.

• Convert objectives into measurable KPIs across the conversion funnel, from wishlists to conversion rates, sell-through, returns, and review metrics.

• Report performance metrics directly to the CEO.

• Lead and expand the ININ publishing team across areas of product management, business development, and publishing production.

• Collaborate with the CEO to shape team structure and talent strategy, including hiring priorities and individual development plans.

• Represent ININ at industry events to platform holders, partners, and the developer community.

• Travel occasionally for industry events and partner meetings.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years in games publishing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing a team.

• Demonstrated success in multi-platform releases on PC and console, from submission and certification to launch and post-launch support.

• Strong expertise in digital storefronts, first-party relations, pricing, and promotional strategies.

• Confident in handling commercial and contractual matters, including term sheets, licensing agreements, and milestone delivery terms.

• Contractual literacy is crucial since ININ lacks an in-house legal department.

• Experience collaborating with licensors and development partners across diverse cultures, preferably with Japanese companies.

• Genuine enthusiasm for and knowledge of retro and classic games and their cultural significance; this is a mandatory requirement.

• Analytical, structured, and hands-on approach to work.

• Comfortable making decisions based on incomplete data and taking ownership of the results.

• Proficient in English.

• German language skills at B2 level or higher.

• Self-motivated in a fully remote work environment.

• Japanese language skills are a plus.

• Established network among indie studios, porting partners, and localization providers is advantageous.

• Experience with retro-inspired indie titles and their communities is a plus.
