This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of administrators who support complex grants and contracts.

• Oversee and execute both pre-award and post-award activities for a diverse portfolio of grants and contracts.

• Prepare and submit proposals for grants and contracts while ensuring compliance with agency and university standards.

• Develop budgets, justifications, projections, and financial reports.

• Manage the routing of proposals, subcontracting processes, sponsor requirements, and institutional signatures.

• Provide guidance to principal investigators on administrative, compliance, budgeting, and research protection matters.

• Oversee project budgets, cost-sharing, cost transfers, reporting timelines, sub-recipient monitoring, and project closeouts.

• Reconcile monthly budget reports and maintain accurate financial records.

• Establish internal procedures for sponsor checks, revenue management, patient care expenses, overdrafts, and compliance monitoring.

• Supervise the grants and contracts staff as well as support personnel.

• Recommend personnel actions and submit reports to the Divisional Administrator/Business Manager.


⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a Bachelor's degree program.

• A minimum of three years of relevant experience in grants and contracts.

• Successful completion of the Research Administration Academy (RAA) and Advanced Grants Management (AGM) training.

• Maintain RAA and AGM certifications through ongoing education.

• Completion of required training in Financial Services, accounting, sponsored research, research administration, and compliance within the first six months.

• Certification as a Research Administrator is preferred.

• Supervisory experience in an academic setting is highly desirable.

• Experience with federal sponsors/funding is strongly preferred.

• Proficient in analyzing data and drawing conclusions.

• Full command of grants and contracts systems.

• Strong working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once.

• Knowledgeable about national compliance issues, Duke policies, federal awards, federal contracts, export controls, IRB, IACUC, COI, IBC, research misconduct, RCR, internal controls, clinical research, and effort allocation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.

• Competent in creating reports and guiding others in asset management.
