This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the development and execution of state government affairs strategies within the designated territory.
• Supervise state government affairs consultants and lobbyists operating in the territory.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with state stakeholder groups.
• Engage in and oversee state associations.
• Attend and monitor meetings held by state regulators or commissions.
• Ensure that lobbyists adhere to company and state compliance standards.
• Facilitate interdepartmental communication and consult with subject matter experts.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and consultant teams on state government communications, events, and initiatives.
• Develop talking points and associated materials.
• Utilize legislative tracking software to monitor, flag, and report on legislative developments.
• Analyze legislation and regulations to ascertain potential impacts on business.
• Foster relationships with government officials and policymakers.
• Report metrics such as meetings, testimonies, and bill outcomes through CRM software.
• Work together with the Government Affairs Director on the Annual Report.
• Coordinate responses to risks and opportunities with both internal and external teams.
• Assist the Government Affairs Director with political compliance matters.
• Support proposals related to government procurements.
• Exemplify Metrc’s Leadership Principles and undertake additional assigned responsibilities.
• A bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, management, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• At least two years of experience in government affairs, ideally across multiple states and concerning technology issues or within another regulated sector.
• Prior experience in state government or a state legislature is advantageous.
• Background in a diverse array of policy, regulatory, and legal landscapes is beneficial.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external peers, elected officials, regulators, and various constituencies.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in significant matters, operating with integrity and in alignment with company core values.
• Proven understanding of the policy-making process.
• Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting legislation and regulations.
• Familiarity with Quorum or other legislative tracking software, Salesforce or similar CRM software, and MS Office.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects under pressure while delivering high-quality outputs within strict deadlines.
• Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.
