• Take ownership of the complete commissioning lifecycle for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), starting from factory testing to site energization and handover.

• Organize and lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), which includes developing test protocols, defining acceptance criteria, and managing documentation.

• Conduct pre-commissioning inspections and perform point-to-point checks on battery modules, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), transformers, switchgear, Energy Management Systems (EMS), Battery Management Systems (BMS), and other balance-of-system equipment.

• Validate wiring, grounding, protection settings, and communication systems against single-line diagrams and design specifications.

• Create and implement energization sequences and commissioning procedures in collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams, contractors, and grid/utility operators.

• Oversee initial energization, grid synchronization, and the first charge/discharge cycles.

• Assess capacity, round-trip efficiency, response times, and availability to ensure they meet contractual guarantees.

• Coordinate project scope, scheduling, interfaces, site activities, grid interconnection, and utility requirements with System Integrators (SI) and EPC partners.

• Review installations, identify non-conformities, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical, controls, and communications issues, while ensuring punch lists are completed.

• Generate test records, red-line drawings, as-built configurations, and detailed commissioning reports.

• Provide training and hand over systems to customer Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and local service teams.

• Relay field findings and failure modes to product development, system integration, and R&D teams.

• Assist in commissioning-readiness reviews and develop standardized commissioning tools, procedures, and checklists.

• Uphold site safety, lockout/tagout protocols, electrical safety practices, and adhere to applicable local and international codes and standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Automation, Energy Systems, or a similar technical field.

• Over 5 years of practical experience in testing and commissioning BESS, photovoltaic (PV) systems with storage, power electronics, or grid-connected electrical systems.

• Proven experience in commissioning multi-MW energy storage or power systems, particularly regarding energization and grid connection.

• Strong practical knowledge of both DC and AC electrical systems, including protection and controls.

• Hands-on familiarity with PCS/inverters, medium-voltage transformers, switchgear, combiner boxes, DC/DC converters, and EMS/BMS platforms.

• Capability to read and validate single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, protection settings, and controls/communications architectures.

• Proficient in using commissioning test equipment and procedures, including insulation resistance, protection-relay testing, power quality assessments, capacity evaluations, and round-trip efficiency testing.

• Working understanding of GB/T, NB/T, NEC (NFPA 70), IEEE 1547, UL 9540, UL 1741, and other relevant global standards.

• Ability to analyze operational and test data, apply statistical methods, and produce insightful commissioning reports.

• Strong troubleshooting and fault diagnosis capabilities across electrical, controls, and communications systems.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, integration partners, EPCs, contractors, utilities, and clients.

• Familiarity with site safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and high-voltage work practices.

• Proficiency in working English, both written and spoken.

• Willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, often at short notice and for extended periods.

• Capability to work outdoors in active construction environments and diverse climates.

• Ability to lift and carry equipment, climb, and work at heights or in confined spaces.

• Flexibility to work nights and weekends during commissioning phases.

🏝️ Benefits

• Competitive salary package that includes a base salary and performance bonuses linked to successful commissioning and timely, on-spec energization.

• Global exposure—opportunities to deploy to and learn from international BESS projects.

• Comprehensive technical training resources available.

• Access to global field test cases and electrochemical research and development data.

• Funding provided for industry conferences and upgrades for standard certifications.

• Direct connection with EnerVenue's headquarters in Silicon Valley and close collaboration with system integration and R&D teams.

• Engaging work focused on mission-driven 30-year service life energy storage technology for grid infrastructure.
