Global Onsite Lab Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Evaluate, analyze, and develop financial models and proposals for both new and existing onsite laboratories.

• Collaborate with clients, as well as SGS regional and country staff, regarding their requirements, costs, schedules, and other related issues.

• Partner with operating affiliates to facilitate planning, scheduling, and coordination for the construction and startup of new onsite laboratories.

• Create models for onsite laboratory opportunities utilizing data gathered from regional teams.

• Acquire technical and operational approvals from team and regional management.

• Prepare or assist in creating technical proposals and/or tender submissions.

• Engage with clients to identify opportunities, verify RFP details, and negotiate to secure projects for SGS.

• Organize and monitor the scheduling of onsite laboratory designs, constructions, renovations, and expansion initiatives with local operating teams.

• Validate and oversee the procurement of laboratory equipment to ensure adherence to global standards and timely delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree in a Science or Engineering-related program, with a strong preference for a Geosciences discipline (e.g., Geology, Mines, Mineralogy, Environmental Mineralogy, Soil Science, etc.).

• Selected technical experience in a geosciences-related field, incorporating some aspects of business management and personnel management.

• Strong understanding of the mining and minerals sector.

• Demonstrated time management abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Capacity to work effectively under pressure.

• Willingness to work extended and/or irregular hours as necessitated by global team engagement.

• Ability to collaborate well with others and work independently without supervision.

• Proven capability to lead a team.

• Established ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects within a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly professional environment.

• Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, including grammar and composition, in English.

• Proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic is advantageous.
