Global Head of Commercial Legal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Serve as the principal executive legal partner for VAST’s most pivotal and intricate multi-year software and infrastructure agreements.

• Create, implement, and continuously enhance global commercial contract templates, which include master software agreements, product-specific AI terms, and vendor procurement frameworks.

• Develop standardized fallback positions and tiered risk-escalation matrices to assist global GTM and Revenue Operations teams in expediting deal closures while upholding corporate governance.

• Tackle innovative legal challenges related to parallel computing, extensive data ingestion, and real-time data processing.

• Ensure that commercial terms comply with international regulations, including the EU AI Act, GDPR, CCPA, and restrictions on cross-border data transfers.

• Recruit, mentor, and lead a geographically dispersed team of commercial counsel and legal specialists across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

• Create Legal Ops that support legal AI and CLM infrastructure; implement automated triage, playbooks, and contract intelligence tools.

• Develop structured enablement and training programs for enterprise sales teams.

• Set and track team KPIs regarding contract volumes, cycle times, and negotiation friction points to improve resource allocation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of legal experience, blending top-tier law firm training with substantial in-house leadership at a rapidly growing enterprise SaaS, deep tech, or AI infrastructure organization.

• Experience in leading a commercial team through swift international scaling or a pre-IPO transition is highly advantageous.

• Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating complex software licenses, technology partnerships, and cloud infrastructure agreements with highly sophisticated counterparts.

• A strong interest in and comprehensive understanding of modern AI stacks, data storage architectures, GPU-accelerated environments, and enterprise data lifecycle management.

• Exceptional capability to make swift, pragmatic business decisions in a fluid regulatory environment where clear legal precedents are not yet established.

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

• Active bar membership in good standing.
