This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium, +4 more countries.
• Lead and establish the central strategic communications and public-influence function for OCH.
• Design the team structure, external support, and operational model necessary for the development phase.
• Create a unified media-engagement language, standards, frameworks, and practical tools for country teams.
• Collaborate directly with country teams to formulate strategies, followed by coaching and advisory support.
• Develop a methodology for network-wide spokespersons.
• Establish a rapid-response capability to address breaking news stories.
• Develop shared infrastructure for narrative testing, media monitoring, intelligence gathering, and cross-network learning.
• Position OCH's voices, narratives, and data for an AI-driven media landscape.
• Assist country teams in fostering relationships with media outlets, validators, think tanks, creators, and platforms.
• Oversee crisis-response protocols.
• Manage a budget aimed at enhancing capacity and skills throughout the network.
• Plan the transition from central support to a lighter-touch operational model.
• Report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and closely collaborate with the CEO.
• Shape the team, external support, and budget in consultation with the CEO and Chief Strategy Officer.
• Strong senior strategic communications judgment.
• Recent, hands-on experience in placing stories, developing spokespeople, managing narratives, and engaging with journalists, editors, creators, or platforms swiftly.
• Capability to create infrastructure from the ground up without a predefined playbook.
• Commitment to enhancing others' skills rather than defaulting to performing tasks personally.
• In-depth understanding of centre-right and conservative landscapes.
• Ability to navigate various country contexts with cultural sensitivity while maintaining coherence.
• Current and practical interest in the impact of AI on information production, discovery, and trust.
• Ability to establish clear standards, challenge as necessary, and empower country teams to take ownership of their work.
• Professional proficiency in English (CEFR C2 or equivalent).
• Desirable: experience in building, spinning out, or scaling a new entity, function, or practice.
• Desirable: experience with multi-country civil-society networks, international NGOs, or politically diverse coalitions.
• Desirable: experience in climate, environment, energy, land, rural affairs, or related public-policy discussions.
