General Liability Claims Examiner – Public Entity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Manage and address high-value Public Entity General Liability cases that involve severe injuries, intricate coverage issues, and legal inquiries or disputes.

• Formulate strategies to achieve satisfactory resolutions for cases.

• Review reports and forms; respond to inquiries; seek legal opinions and early resolutions; communicate outcomes to relevant parties.

• Address decisions, agreements, and/or court orders; devise action plans; assess the need for examinations; obtain client authorization.

• Identify cases suitable for settlements or redemptions.

• Collect and document supplementary information while coordinating with client representatives.

• Request legal or private investigations; assign tasks to local counsel and oversee their performance.

• Respond to inquiries from plaintiff's counsel, unions, employees, or clients.

• Recognize issues and develop defense strategies.

• Establish or modify accrued liability and approve administrative expenses.

• Identify subrogation opportunities and manage the associated processes.

• Attend and engage in mediations, trials, arbitrations, or hearings as necessary.

• Collaborate with partners to facilitate early return-to-work initiatives.

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in general liability claims management or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, troubleshoot, analyze problems, and use discretion.

• Capability to manage work-related stress and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to meet deadlines consistently.

• Proficient in computer keyboarding.

• Willingness to travel as necessary.

• Ability to hear, see, and communicate effectively.
