Game Analyst, Color Commentator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Deliver comprehensive analysis and insights on sporting events, games, tournaments, and championships.

• Act as a color commentator during live broadcasts in collaboration with play-by-play announcers.

• Describe critical plays, strategies, key moments, and shifts in momentum.

• Analyze player performances, team strategies, advanced statistics, and game dynamics.

• Offer pre-game, in-game, halftime, and post-game analyses.

• Work closely with producers, hosts, reporters, and analysts to develop segment ideas, narratives, and broadcast coverage.

• Conduct research on teams, athletes, matchups, and upcoming events.

• Utilize advanced statistics, analytics, and research tools effectively.

• Make appearances on pre-game shows, halftime reports, post-game segments, and special coverage events.

• Take part in special features, documentaries, and other sports-related programming.

• Interact with viewers through social media, live chats, Q&A sessions, and interactive platforms.

• Stay updated on sports news, industry trends, league developments, historical context, and emerging storylines.

• Ensure accuracy, professionalism, and composure during fast-paced live sports coverage.

• Execute other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, broadcasting, sports management, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Typically, five or more years of experience in sports broadcasting, sports journalism, on-air analysis, color commentary, or a related area is preferred.

• Experience in delivering live color commentary or game analysis for television, radio, streaming, collegiate, professional, or digital sports broadcasts is preferred.

• Proven experience utilizing advanced sports analytics, statistics, and research to enhance commentary and analysis.

• Familiarity with broadcast equipment and production software.

• Extensive knowledge of sports, including current events, historical context, leagues, teams, athletes, and significant industry developments.

• Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.

• Outstanding verbal communication, storytelling, public speaking, and presentation skills.

• Confident, engaging, and credible on-air demeanor.

• Proficient research, preparation, and fact-checking skills.

• Ability to think on one's feet, adapt commentary, and stay composed during live broadcasts.

• Excellent collaboration skills.

• Sound editorial judgment with a commitment to accuracy, fairness, and professional broadcasting standards.

• Familiarity with video editing and sports production processes is preferred.

• Multilingual communication skills are a plus.
