Full-Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assume technical leadership of new greenfield product areas from the initial concept to deployment.

• Create and implement highly scalable, distributed microservices with a focus on a strong backend architecture.

• Collaborate across various platforms and technology stacks.

• Primarily develop using JavaScript/TypeScript while engaging with infrastructure and big-data pipelines that monitor over 3 billion items and terabytes of analytics.

• Work alongside Digital Product Managers to establish technical strategies and translate ambiguous consumer requirements into high-performing features.

• Keep up-to-date with technology trends and explore new technologies.

• Provide mentorship to members of the engineering community.

• Engage in architectural design, code assessments, and hands-on coding.

• Utilize TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, Python, or Go along with open-source RDBMS, distributed NoSQL databases, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS cloud-native tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience does not count.

• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Preferred: 7+ years of experience coding in more than two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience contributing to open source frameworks.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience using Git-based version-control systems.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience troubleshooting technical issues within cloud environments.

• Experience utilizing modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience mentoring engineers and fostering professional development within technical teams.

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience using observability to identify and enhance performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

• Experience with interactive AI tools beyond basic code completion.

• Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects or large-scale technical initiatives.

• Experience in establishing and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams.
