Full-stack Engineer 5

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Manage a varied portfolio of technology projects along with a team of developers skilled in distributed microservices and full-stack systems.

• Develop solutions that address the company's regulatory requirements.

• Keep abreast of technology trends and engage in experimentation with new technologies.

• Engage in both internal and external technology communities.

• Provide mentorship to members of the engineering team.

• Write or review code as necessary.

• Collaborate closely with digital product managers.

• Deliver scalable cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans towards financial independence.

• Work with technologies such as JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Go, open-source RDBMS, NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (such as Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering).

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience is not counted).

• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• Preferred: Over 9 years of coding experience with at least two of Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.

• Preferred: More than 5 years of contributing to open source frameworks.

• Preferred: At least 5 years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.

• Preferred: 5+ years of experience in creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or other cloud-based productivity tools or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience utilizing Git-based version-control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).

• Preferred: 4+ years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.

• Preferred: 3+ years of mentoring senior engineers and fostering professional growth within technical teams.

• Preferred: 2+ years of experience using observability to identify and enhance performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience leading architectural design reviews and impacting enterprise-wide technical standards and methodologies.

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience establishing and upholding coding standards and design patterns across teams.

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience implementing observability and reliability practices at scale.

• Preferred: Familiarity with modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.

• Preferred: Experience shaping technology strategy at the portfolio or business unit level.

• Preferred: Exposure to interactive AI tooling aimed at boosting productivity, going beyond basic code completion.

• Preferred: Experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives or large-scale technical projects.
