Full-Stack Engineer 4 – Capital One Shopping Tech, Categories Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Assume technical responsibility for new, greenfield product areas from their initial concept to final deployment.

• Design and implement highly scalable, distributed microservices, focusing on a resilient backend architecture.

• Engage with a variety of platforms and technology stacks, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, infrastructure, and big data pipelines that track over 3 billion items and terabytes of analytics.

• Collaborate with Digital Product Managers to establish technical strategies and transform unclear consumer requirements into high-performing features.

• Explore new technologies and provide mentorship to members of the engineering community.

• Contribute to architectural design, participate in code evaluations, and engage in hands-on coding.

• Utilize TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, Python, or Go in conjunction with open-source RDBMS, distributed NoSQL databases, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS cloud-native tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering; internship experience is not counted.

• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• No employment authorization sponsorship or immigration-related support for new applicants.

• Preferred: A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Preferred: Over 7 years of programming experience with more than two of the following: Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala.

• Preferred: More than 3 years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Preferred: Over 3 years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: More than 4 years of contributions to open source frameworks.

• Preferred: Over 3 years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.

• Preferred: More than 4 years of experience in creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs.

• Preferred: Over 3 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks.

• Preferred: More than 3 years of experience using Git-based version-control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).

• Preferred: Over 3 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments.

• Experience utilizing modern AI-based coding tools and IDE copilots.

• Preferred: At least 1 year of experience mentoring engineers and facilitating professional growth within technical teams.

• Preferred: Over 1 year of experience using observability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.

• Experience with interactive AI tools beyond basic code completion.

• Experience leading cross-functional engineering projects or large-scale technical initiatives.

• Experience in establishing and upholding coding standards and design patterns across teams.
