Fuels Neutronics & TH Methods Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Execute intricate engineering tasks that encompass design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, specifications, field assignments, and resolution of field issues.

• Independently assess departmental outputs, risk assessments, Apparent Cause Analyses, Root Cause Analyses, and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses.

• Recommend solutions and work scope to the supervisor.

• Operate independently on the majority of assignments and solutions.

• Ensure adherence to government regulations, organizational, industry, and customer engineering standards.

• Analyze, select, and implement technical techniques, procedures, and criteria.

• Make intricate adaptations and modifications for tasks that have not been performed previously.

• Create new or modified products, methods, systems, or models that deliver value-added solutions to customers.

• Comprehend the impact of work on both internal and external organizations.

• Engage in special projects as directed.

• Propose and execute process enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology, and Engineering Science may also be considered based on the position.

• At least 7 years of relevant experience.

• In-depth knowledge of applicable engineering standards, techniques, and criteria.

• Strong communication skills to understand and convey complex technical information.

• Ability to cultivate a robust network and foster positive interpersonal relationships.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team setting.

• Advanced skills in problem identification and resolution.

• Leadership qualities.

• A questioning mindset and self-monitoring practices.

• High proficiency with specialized software tools and programming languages as required for the role.

• Preferred experience with core neutronics simulator codes: ARTEMIS, PRISM, NEMO, SIMULATE.

• Preferred experience with plant simulation codes: RELAP, CATHARE.

• Preferred experience with plant thermal-hydraulic codes: COBRA-FLX, XCOBRA-IIIC, Star-CCM+.

• Proficient in computer programming and scripting in FORTRAN, PYTHON, C++, and LINUX.
