Frontend Web Application Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Explore and analyze a comprehensive, long-standing codebase to grasp its current functionality and coding standards.

• Recognize outdated practices and propose enhancements in line with modern best practices.

• Craft robust, concise, and reusable code accompanied by tests and documentation.

• Evaluate code from fellow developers and offer constructive feedback.

• Integrate feedback from code reviews to enhance skills and align with the team’s standards.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools while ensuring code quality and accuracy.

• Investigate bug reports from the support team and develop well-defined fixes or actionable resolution strategies.

• Define, prioritize, estimate, and organize tasks into manageable segments.

• Participate in regular video-conference check-ins with the technical team.

• Engage with the public alongside support personnel or via forums and issue trackers.

• Collaborate in design and architecture discussions.

• Carry out other related tasks as assigned by the lead developer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in writing, deploying, and maintaining client-side code for real-world, API-driven single-page applications.

• Expertise in TypeScript, React, styling, state management, and efficient data transfer via HTTP.

• Capability to work with legacy technologies such as Backbone and CoffeeScript.

• Recent experience in providing and receiving code reviews.

• Ability to independently establish and troubleshoot a local development environment.

• Interest in data collection (surveying), especially in humanitarian emergencies and other challenging scenarios.

• Proficiency in both spoken and written English.

• Familiarity with Git.

• Availability to overlap working hours with the Eastern time zone.

• Average availability of at least 30 hours per week, preferably 35 hours or more.

• Preferred but not mandatory: Docker and Docker Compose; Python, ideally with Django and Django REST Framework; user-facing LLM integrations; XLSForm, ODK XForm, and OpenRosa; Stripe payment integrations.

• Only candidates with experience in large web applications will be considered.
