Front End Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Write, test, and debug code for applications, backend services, and APIs.

• Contribute to the development of features and services within established architecture and engineering standards.

• Engage in code reviews and implement feedback to enhance code quality.

• Diagnose and resolve issues in development and lower-environment settings.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and QA teams to deliver functional and reliable software solutions.

• Adhere to established development workflows, security protocols, and engineering standards.

• Assist in documentation and knowledge sharing efforts.

• Gain an understanding of platform architecture, service interactions, and system design principles.

• Develop a working knowledge of platform services, system interactions, and engineering patterns.

• Contribute to Varsity Brands’ unified, API-driven digital platform that enhances sports and spirit experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Foundational knowledge of software engineering principles, encompassing object-oriented programming and data structures.

• Basic understanding of APIs, application architecture, and database systems.

• Familiarity with modern development environments and tools.

• Capability to write, test, and debug code in at least one programming language (Java preferred).

• Foundational understanding of RESTful APIs.

• Basic understanding of SQL and data management.

• Foundational knowledge of version control systems (Git-based tools).

• Ability to apply logical reasoning to address defined technical issues.

• Capability to exercise independent judgment within established guidelines.

• Skill in identifying issues and escalating them appropriately.

• Effective communication skills within team environments.

• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 0-2 years of relevant experience (internships, academic projects, or early career roles).
