Frontend Desktop Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee the development of Keet Desktop, a cross-platform peer-to-peer communications application.

• Create user interfaces and experiences utilizing React and the Pear runtime.

• Enhance frontend performance, focusing on rendering efficiency and memory management.

• Conduct testing and debugging for complex frontend applications.

• Develop and sustain robust, modular, and thoroughly tested code.

• Play a role in shaping the future of decentralized communication and peer-to-peer applications.

• Collaborate with a globally distributed remote team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience with React/Preact and modern JavaScript/TypeScript in production-level applications.

• Strong proficiency in state management using Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or similar technologies.

• Capability to produce modular, maintainable, and well-tested code.

• Solid expertise in testing and debugging intricate frontend applications.

• A keen interest or prior experience with P2P technologies or distributed systems.

• Comfort in working within a remote, globally distributed team environment.

• Effective communication skills.

• Preferred experience in developing desktop applications using Electron, Tauri, or comparable runtimes.

• Familiarity with video/audio APIs, WebRTC, media streams, and real-time communication is a plus.

• Proven ability to optimize UI performance, including rendering and memory management, is desirable.

• Experience in building cross-platform applications for macOS, Windows, Linux, or similar platforms is advantageous.

• Contributions to open-source software projects, particularly in P2P or decentralized technology, are a plus.

• Excellent proficiency in English communication.
