Front End Software Engineer, Media Player

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in developing the next iteration of Reddit’s media web experience.

• Outline technical elements necessary for delivering video and audio content on Reddit.

• Concentrate on the web media player and APIs that enable seamless, low-latency playback experiences and interactive features.

• Collaborate across product, design, and engineering teams to implement product and business strategies.

• Engage in the complete development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.

• Design and create end-to-end full-stack solutions utilizing React and TypeScript for web UI components, and Go and Python for backend APIs.

• Review code and design documentation, offering constructive feedback on product specifications and mockups.

• Partner with client and platform engineers to enhance media performance across Reddit worldwide.

• Contribute to developer workflow standards and advocate for best practices.

• Guide junior engineers and assist in developing their technical skills.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Over 3 years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby.

• Expertise in contemporary web development technologies (JavaScript, React, Next.js, TypeScript) and experience in converting intricate UI/UX designs into scalable web applications.

• Proficient in GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift basics, and capable of designing and implementing maintainable APIs.

• Strong organizational abilities, with a knack for prioritizing tasks and delivering projects on time.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with teams in a fully remote setting and engage in discussions about complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences.
