Front End Software Engineer, Consumer Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Product Management, Product Design, Data Science, and Client Engineers across iOS, Android, and Web platforms.

• Convert business and user requirements into dependable, low-latency technical solutions.

• Take ownership of the entire software lifecycle for significant product initiatives, from technical design documents and API contracts to development, testing, deployment, and observability.

• Design, construct, and assess A/B experiments.

• Examine user behavior, conversion funnels, and retention loops utilizing tools such as BigQuery, HEX, or Firebase.

• Develop and sustain scalable GraphQL, REST, and gRPC APIs.

• Create distributed backend services tailored for client consumption and optimized for consumer UI performance.

• Set engineering best practices and enhance developer workflows.

• Guide teammates and leverage modern AI-integrated tools to efficiently deliver high-quality products.

• Build and expand Reddit products to enhance content discovery, community involvement, and user connectivity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical backend development experience in creating and managing large-scale distributed serving systems in high-concurrency settings.

• Excellent communication skills with a proven history of fostering cross-functional alignment in fully remote or hybrid team environments.

• Proficiency in one or more front-end programming languages: Javascript, Typescript, ES6.

• Familiarity with one or more front-end web frameworks such as LIT, Polymer, React, Vue, or Angular.

• Experience with CSS.

• Interest or experience in utilizing AI-assisted engineering tools to expedite development workflows.

• A user-centric approach to product usability, interaction design, social dynamics, and user growth loops.

• Proven experience in designing experiments, setting performance metrics, and iterating based on feedback.
