French to English OPI/VRI Interpreters

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cameroon.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls professionally while adhering to the interpreter’s code of conduct.

• Be ready to take notes during calls.

• Have a solid understanding of industry-specific terminology, especially in healthcare and medical fields.

• Convey all messages accurately and comprehensively, ensuring no information is added, omitted, or altered.

• Provide exceptional customer service during interpretation tasks.

• Facilitate effective communication between clients and limited French-proficient speakers by delivering precise and thorough interpretations.

• Follow established standards of practice.

• Engage in internal professional training programs.

• Seek additional professional certifications.

• Maintain communication with and report to your team leader.

• Adhere to dress code policies for video remote interpreting (VRI).

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in both English and French.

• A minimum of 1 year experience in over-the-phone interpretation with a respected interpretation company.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is an advantage.

• International healthcare certifications are a plus (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA).

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Elevated emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.

• Excellent communication, active listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.
