French Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Provide precise and complete interpretations between source and target languages during consecutive interpretation.

• Enable effective communication between English speakers and those who speak another language.

• Accurately convey verbal messages for clients and customers with limited English proficiency.

• Uphold impartiality, neutrality, confidentiality, and proper interpreting protocols.

• Control call flow and refrain from dominating conversations.

• Exhibit cultural sensitivity and comprehension of both languages.

• Deliver exceptional customer service with the appropriate tone, patience, and respect.

• Utilize industry-specific terminology and protocols in medical, judicial, insurance, and governmental contexts.

• Adhere to LanguageLine Solutions' interpreting guidelines and procedures.

• Foster positive relationships with the Contractor Liaison, Interpreter Resource Centre, and other departments.

• Show reliability and maintain professional and ethical standards.

• Exceptional proficiency in both English and French.

• Comprehensive understanding of the cultural nuances of both languages.

• Extensive vocabulary, including synonyms, idiomatic phrases, proverbs, and quotations.

• Accurate understanding and expression in both languages across a variety of complex subjects.

• Proficient in correct word order and grammatical accuracy.

• Clear enunciation, pronunciation, and a professional tone in both languages.

• Familiarity with terminology, procedures, and products in medical, financial, insurance, legal, and governmental settings.

• High level of accuracy in consecutive interpretation.

• Knowledge of interpretation techniques and procedures.

• Maintain neutrality towards clients and limited-English speakers.

• Capability to speak clearly without any accent interference.

• Strong cognitive skills to quickly understand and articulate information.

• Ability to focus and follow conversations for extended durations.

• Capacity to remember and accurately relay blocks of information.

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Languages, Translation, Interpretation, Philology, Linguistics, or related fields (preferred).

• Ph.D. or Doctoral degree in Languages, Philology, Linguistics, or related fields (preferred).

• NRPSI, DPSI, Metropolitan Police Test, CLI2, CLI3, or a Certificate of Higher Education in a relevant field (preferred).

• Experience in written translation, interpretation, localization, bilingual publishing, media organizations, educational institutions, or similar bilingual environments.

• Experience living and/or studying in a bilingual context.

• Minimum of one year of relevant industry experience (preferred).
