Freelance Linguist, Punjabi

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Conduct translations, reviews, and quality assurance for Assamese translation assignments.

• Execute copy-editing and linguistic assessments to guarantee precision, consistency, and compliance with style guidelines.

• Offer constructive feedback to translators and freelancers to enhance overall quality.

• Oversee and maintain language resources, such as glossaries, style guides, and work instructions.

• Address and manage linguistic inquiries from translators and project managers.

• Clarify terminology, style, and linguistic matters to facilitate seamless collaboration within the translation team.

• Assist in the onboarding, development, and training of new linguists and freelancers as necessary.

• Engage in the creation of new and refined review and quality processes.

• Meet or surpass quality and productivity key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Accomplish objectives established by the Squad Lead / Language Lead.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistics, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Over 2 years of experience in translation, review, or localization.

• Native proficiency in the Assamese language.

• Proficient in English (both written and spoken).

• Strong understanding of the localization process and review workflows.

• Competence in standard software applications (Windows, MS Office).

• Practical experience with CAT tools (e.g., XTM, SDL Studio, PolyGlot, MateCat, ATMS, fbCAT, etc.) and query/issue management tools (e.g., JIRA).

• Capability to quickly learn and adapt to new localization tools.

• Exceptional attention to detail with strong review and editing abilities.

• Ability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback to linguists.

• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

• Strong knowledge of terminology management in one or more subject areas.

• Capacity to work effectively under tight deadlines.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and adeptness in managing diverse linguistic challenges.

• Willingness and capability to train and mentor others when necessary.

• Positive attitude towards client and stakeholder communication.
