Freelance Japanese Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Facilitate clear and effective communication between individuals who speak English and those who speak other languages.

• Prepare for interpretation sessions by reviewing relevant materials and comprehending the context.

• Uphold confidentiality and comply with the Code of Professional Conduct.

• Collaborate with team members from LinguaLinx, clients, and various service providers.

• Deliver video remote interpretation for community events, educational support, and healthcare appointments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a 40-hour Medical Interpreting Training Course.

• Proficiency in both English and target language(s), in spoken and written forms.

• Compliance with HIPAA regulations.

• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Reliable internet connection for remote assignments.

• Capability to work independently and adjust to diverse environments and client needs.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Must possess valid U.S. work authorization.

• May be subject to a background check.

• Previous experience in medical, legal, or educational interpreting is preferred.

• Comfort with simultaneous interpreting is preferred.

• Professional certifications (CCHI, NBCMI, or state court certification) are advantageous.
