Freelance Apparel Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create innovative styles for ready-to-wear, intimates, outerwear, and additional categories, from initial concept to tech pack completion.

• Design fresh styles informed by current trends and the brand's aesthetic.

• Produce original sketches either by hand or digitally utilizing Illustrator/Procreate.

• Convert concepts into precise, detailed design specifications.

• Conduct research on trends within alternative fashion, festival attire, rave culture, goth, punk, and subculture-related areas.

• Choose fabrics, trims, prints, and washes that align with cost targets and Dolls Kill’s aesthetic.

• Develop and manage tech packs that include measurements, construction specifics, callouts, colorways, and trims for factories and vendors.

• Assist Dolls Kill’s product team in creating new styles tailored specifically for the DK customer.

⛳️ Requirements

• A solid understanding of Dolls Kill’s distinctive aesthetic and lifestyle.

• A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of silhouettes, prints, categories, and trims; a focus on alternative/subculture is an added advantage.

• A college degree in Fashion Design is mandatory.

• 5–7 years of professional experience in fashion design is essential, covering apparel, footwear, and/or bags/accessories.

• Capability to sketch computerized vector flats using Adobe Illustrator.

• Proficiency in hand sketching is highly desirable.

• Experience in creating tech packs is required.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a freelance or contract environment.
