Fraud Prevention Engineer – Mid-Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough investigations of fraud incidents from start to finish, identifying attack vectors, performing root cause analyses at both the infrastructure and application levels, and implementing effective countermeasures.

• Configure and enhance Cloudflare WAF, manage bots, apply rate limiting, and optimize Workers and Turnstile challenge flows.

• Serve as the technical liaison between fraud analysts, engineering teams, and product departments.

• Examine various attack vectors and strategize, plan, and prioritize technical fraud prevention initiatives on the roadmap.

• Develop tools, scripts, and queries to strengthen the technical capabilities of the fraud analyst team.

• Maintain an in-depth understanding of payment processes, including authorization, 3DS, tokenization, and locations of vulnerabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in fraud prevention, security engineering, or a technical role in payments.

• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, encompassing Cloudflare Workers, Turnstile, and browser-side challenge flows.

• Solid understanding of backend systems, including navigating server-side codebases, tracing API flows, and analyzing system logs.

• Strong SQL skills, including proficiency with joins, window functions, and handling large transaction datasets.

• Practical experience with Cloudflare, including WAF, bot management, and rate limiting, or comparable edge/CDN security platforms.

• Ability to articulate technical findings to non-technical audiences and vice versa.

• Experience in Python scripting for automation and data analysis is advantageous.

• Familiarity with ELK, Grafana, or Datadog is a plus.

• A background in application security or threat modeling is considered a bonus.

• Knowledge of Forter, Riskified, Sift, or proprietary rule engines is a plus.

• Understanding of Git workflows and CI/CD principles is beneficial.

• Candidates should be currently residing in Poland and able to work from that location.
