Founding Engineer – Fintech

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and construct essential financial infrastructure, which includes KYC/KYB workflows, ledger systems, and transaction state machines.

• Create and implement integrations with regulated banking partners, card issuers, and payment systems such as ACH, wires, and foreign exchange.

• Develop provider-agnostic systems that connect multiple financial partners without being tied to a single vendor.

• Build secure and robust APIs along with data models for intricate reconciliation and event processing.

• Oversee the entire feature-development lifecycle, from designing database schemas to deploying in production and ensuring internal compliance tooling.

• Collaborate closely with founders to convert product objectives into scalable technical solutions and engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–8+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong foundation in backend or full-stack development.

• Demonstrated success in creating production-grade APIs and distributed systems.

• Expertise in database design, data modeling, and asynchronous workflows (including queues, events, retries, and idempotency).

• High level of engineering judgment; capable of discerning when to scale and when to prioritize speed.

• Strong ownership mentality with the ability to independently manage a problem and see a goal through to completion.

• Highly proactive approach with a desire to write production code daily in a dynamic, early-stage environment.

• Nice-to-have: Direct experience in fintech, neobanking, or payments, particularly in ledgers, reconciliation, or money movement.

• Nice-to-have: Background in high-growth financial technology companies such as Stripe, Adyen, Airwallex, Brex, or similar infrastructure providers.

• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of KYC/KYB regulatory intricacies and international banking infrastructure.

• Nice-to-have: Experience in developing multi-currency or FX-intensive platforms.
