
Founding Engineer β Fintech

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +5 more countries.
β’ Design and develop fundamental financial infrastructure, including accounts, balances, ledgers, transaction state machines, and systems for money movement.
β’ Implement KYC/KYB processes, onboarding procedures, compliance measures, permissions, limits, and approval workflows.
β’ Create integrations with banking partners, card issuers, payment networks, foreign exchange providers, and various other financial infrastructure collaborators.
β’ Establish a provider-independent architecture that accommodates multiple banking and financial providers, ensuring no vendor lock-in.
β’ Develop secure, reliable APIs and financial data models that can manage reconciliation, event processing, retries, and exception handling efficiently.
β’ Take ownership of technical challenges from start to finish, encompassing architecture, database design, implementation, and production deployment.
β’ Collaborate closely with founders to convert product requirements and business constraints into scalable technical solutions.
β’ Assist in setting engineering standards, making technology selections, and defining the long-term technical vision for the platform.
β’ 3β8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a solid foundation in backend or full-stack development.
β’ Direct experience in constructing financial infrastructure within a fintech, neobank, payments company, or a similar financial technology setting.
β’ Familiarity with core banking, payments, ledgers, card systems, foreign exchange, reconciliation, KYC/KYB, or money movement processes.
β’ Demonstrated experience in developing production-grade APIs and distributed systems.
β’ Strong skills in database architecture and data modeling.
β’ Experience with asynchronous workflows, queues, events, retries, idempotency, and transaction processing.
β’ Excellent engineering judgment and product instincts, especially in balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and accuracy.
β’ Ability to thrive in a highly ambiguous 0β1 environment and take significant ownership without needing extensive guidance.
β’ A natural inclination towards initiative, creativity, and problem-solving.
β’ Highly proactive and eager to continue writing production code instead of transitioning primarily into a managerial role.
β’ Preferred qualifications include experience as an individual contributor, early engineer, founding engineer, or technical lead in a high-growth fintech.
β’ Preferred qualifications also include a background at publicly listed fintech companies or similar organizations.
β’ Preferred qualifications entail a deep understanding of financial ledgers, reconciliation, transaction processing, or money-movement architecture.
β’ Preferred qualifications include experience in integrating various banking, payment, card, or financial infrastructure providers.
β’ Preferred qualifications also include knowledge of KYC/KYB regulatory and compliance requirements.
β’ Preferred qualifications involve experience in building multi-currency, foreign exchange, card issuing, or cross-border payments products.
β’ Preferred qualifications may include previous experience in establishing a product or engineering function from an early stage.
