Founding Engineer – Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Create and develop a high-throughput, event-driven data platform from the ground up.

• Ingest and process millions of events within a lakehouse architecture.

• Convert and standardize clinical data into FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) format.

• Build and manage PostgreSQL and MongoDB systems at scale.

• Collaborate directly with external hospital IT teams to gather technical specifications and integrate with existing legacy infrastructure.

• Develop public APIs aimed at developers for external client use.

• Take ownership of the entire stack, from event ingestion to data serving for both external clients and internal analytics.

• Utilize AI coding tools on a daily basis to enhance development efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of hands-on software engineering experience, actively functioning as an individual contributor delivering production-ready code.

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing high-volume, event-driven architectures or event bus patterns.

• Extensive production experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB at scale, managing millions of records.

• Professional-level proficiency in both Portuguese and English.

• Experience with large-scale, data-intensive systems in a production environment.

• Must be based in Latin America, or exceptional cases in Europe with a readiness to work LATAM hours and travel occasionally.

• Should be a hands-on individual contributor; not someone who has recently transitioned into purely managerial or director roles.
