Forward Deployed Engineer, Audio

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Develop and take ownership of solutions that convert raw, often unstructured audio with minimal metadata into well-organized, market-ready datasets.

• Create prototypes and transition them into dependable production systems.

• Quickly evaluate large and unfamiliar audio datasets and determine their suitability for various customer use cases.

• Collaborate with the GM of the audio vertical, product and platform engineering, Data Lab, and commercial teams.

• Convert customer model-development objectives into actionable technical plans with defined acceptance criteria.

• Manage the implementation and operation of customer engagements from feasibility studies to post-delivery support.

• Identify opportunities for platform growth based on customer feedback and frontline insights.

• Design and develop shared capabilities across various verticals within the platform.

• Create technical playbooks and establish quality standards for audio.

• Handle multiple active audio projects and maintain a roadmap for platform investments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, including substantial interaction with customers or external technical stakeholders.

• Direct experience working with media data; experience with audio data is a plus.

• Proven track record in building and managing systems that process, analyze, or deliver data at scale.

• Strong customer-facing skills, including the ability to clarify ambiguous requirements, communicate trade-offs, and establish trust with technical stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to take end-to-end ownership from defining initial problems through to implementation, validation, and support.

• High tolerance for ambiguity and a proactive approach, with the discretion to investigate further or push back when necessary.

• Comfort in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities and time-sensitive customer projects.

• Experience in an early-stage company or a startup-like setting with extensive ownership is advantageous.

• Practical experience with Python is beneficial.

• Background in product engineering or a strong product-oriented mindset is a plus.

• Familiarity with search, vector embeddings, semantic retrieval, or ML-assisted data curation is advantageous.

• Experience with AWS, Dagster, Databricks, or Vercel is a plus.

• Knowledge of audio processing, speech or music machine learning, transcription, diarization, annotation, quality measurement, or privacy and redaction workflows is advantageous.
