Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Facilitate smooth client onboarding and integration within Sweed’s cannabis retail platform.

• Oversee ETL processes that extract, transform, and load client inventory, customer, and transaction data.

• Accurately map data to Sweed’s data model and adhere to state-specific compliance requirements.

• Begin each day with team stand-ups, sharing updates and addressing any obstacles.

• Manage a dynamic queue of implementation tickets and projects while adhering to deadlines.

• Follow and contribute to the establishment of SOPs and checks and balances for migrations and ETL operations.

• Proactively address issues, challenges, and revised timelines through effective communication.

• Respond to implementation emergencies during or after business hours by triaging, stabilizing, and informing stakeholders.

• Collaborate with implementation, support, product, and client-facing teams to ensure timely launches.

• Maintain clear project status and ensure that errors are identified before reaching client production environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years in a technical implementation, integration, or data engineering position; experience with SaaS platforms is highly preferred.

• Proven hands-on experience managing multiple tickets and projects simultaneously, each with distinct deadlines.

• Comfortable adhering to documented SOPs and quality checks, with the ability to recognize when a process requires modification.

• Strong technical expertise and systematic troubleshooting of data or configuration issues.

• Effective and proactive communication skills when timelines or challenges change.

• Resilient, self-reflective, and accountable for errors.

• Experience in a highly regulated, precision-critical data environment, such as healthcare or military/defense, is a significant advantage.

• Background in leading, mentoring, or coordinating the work of others.

• Technical project management skills, including breaking tasks into actionable steps and tracking progress to completion.

• Familiarity with data analysis, transformation, and ETL/data migration processes.

• Knowledge of inventory, customer, and catalog data.

• Ability to identify technical requirements and advise clients on integration with third-party platforms.

• Proficiency in programming with Python (required, intermediate level or above) and SQL.

• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and CSV/DataFrame manipulation.

• Highly organized with a consistent track record of meeting deadlines.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across implementation, support, and product teams.

• Capability to create and maintain SOP documentation.

• Skill in keeping cross-functional stakeholders informed on project status and challenges.

• Strong verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to lead client meetings and convey technical concepts clearly.

• Comfortable working in U.S. time zones and participating in regular client-facing meetings.

• Nice-to-have experience with POS data migrations, Airflow, AWS S3, Metrc or other track-and-trace systems, SaaS product or implementation teams, cannabis technology, healthcare data migration, or military/defense data migration.
