Forward-Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and oversee integrations between R2’s platform and partner APIs, data pipelines, and backend systems.

• Obtain controlled access to live partner data to pinpoint edge cases, enhance decisioning models, and ensure data integrity and compliance.

• Convert customer requirements into functional software by creating and deploying lightweight APIs, ETL jobs, or infrastructure modifications.

• Serve as the technical liaison for new deployments by troubleshooting systems, monitoring performance, and addressing production challenges.

• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and backend engineers to customize systems for each partner’s specific context.

• Develop deployment playbooks, data access protocols, and documentation to facilitate secure and efficient integrations throughout the region.

⛳️ Requirements

• 6–8+ years of experience in backend, infrastructure, or data engineering, preferably within fintech or SaaS integrations.

• Extensive experience with Python, Go, Node.js, RESTful APIs, and SQL.

• Strong comprehension of data systems, access control, and secure data management.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate directly with external engineering teams and translate both business and technical requirements into robust integrations.

• Proficient in debugging production systems and handling sensitive data within strict compliance frameworks.

• Capability to operate independently in ambiguous settings and take responsibility for mission-critical outcomes.

• Familiarity with financial APIs, underwriting systems, or risk infrastructure.

• Knowledge of data modeling, ETL, or event-driven architectures such as Kafka and Pub/Sub.

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English to facilitate collaboration with partners across Latin America.

• Experience in customer-embedded roles at technology companies like Palantir, Stripe, or API-driven startups.

• Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Snowflake is a plus.
