Forward Deployed Engineer

📋 Description

• Collaborate across Sales, Product, R&D, and Implementation teams.

• Partner with Solutions Consultants and Account Executives on strategic accounts and new opportunities.

• Take ownership of discovery, technical scoping, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, adoption, and handoff for strategic customer solutions.

• Demonstrate the current product using customer data to illustrate value during sales pursuits.

• Quickly prototype near-production-ready solutions when product capabilities fall short.

• Create, deploy, and assess solutions utilizing customer data.

• Evaluate adoption, workflow impact, reliability, and time-to-value.

• Design production solutions focusing on security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and architectural integration.

• Collaborate with Product and R&D to transform validated customer patterns into roadmap investments, reusable components, and platform enhancements.

• Create reusable accelerators based on recurring customer requirements.

• Develop and continually refine solution specifications in collaboration with customers.

• Assess business potential, market needs, competitive differentiation, and functional and technical specifications with Product.

• Align customer needs, ideas, roadmaps, and visions with Product and Sales.

• Deliver swift, valuable technical outcomes that facilitate deal closures and encourage production adoption.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong customer-facing and commercial acumen.

• Proficient in conducting technical discovery sessions and engaging in value discussions with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Ability to align technical solutions with customer outcomes and deal value.

• Capability to generalize customer solutions into reusable accelerators.

• Experience in LLM application development, RAG, prompt and context engineering, and agent orchestration.

• Sound judgment regarding single-agent versus multi-agent patterns and management of memory and state.

• Daily experience with contemporary AI coding tools such as Claude Code.

• Understanding of enterprise integrations within regulated utility markets.

• Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS/Smallworld, IBM Maximo/EAM, SAP/Oracle ERP/PPM, and PowerBI/reporting systems.

• Technical and functional knowledge of REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and integration with enterprise systems-of-record.

• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required, up to approximately 50%.

• Preferred background in software or data engineering.

• Previous experience in developing and shipping maintainable production software is preferred.

• Fluency in Angular, Python, or a similar programming language is preferred.

• Preferred understanding of SQL, data modeling, and ingestion, transformation, and serving pipelines.

• Strong debugging skills with imperfect customer data in live environments preferred.

• Production engineering expertise in observability, performance, and operating at scale preferred.

• Previous experience in customer-facing technical roles, solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting, or startups is preferred.

• Prior experience in deploying AI within enterprise or regulated settings is preferred.
