Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Collaborate across various departments including Sales, Product, R&D, and Implementation teams.

• Partner with Solutions Consultants and Account Executives on strategic accounts and new business opportunities.

• Take ownership of discovery, technical scoping, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, adoption, and handoff for customer-centric solutions.

• Rapidly deploy the existing product using customer data to demonstrate value during negotiations.

• Quickly prototype near-production-ready solutions when existing product features fall short of customer requirements.

• Create the smallest viable prototype to validate hypotheses within deal timelines.

• Design production solutions ensuring security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and integration with customer architecture.

• Construct, deploy, and assess solutions utilizing customer data.

• Evaluate adoption metrics, workflow impact, reliability, and time-to-value; iterate with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Collaborate with Product and R&D to transform validated customer patterns and production insights into roadmap investments, reusable components, and platform enhancements.

• Create reusable accelerators based on recurring customer requirements.

• Continuously update solution specifications in collaboration with customers.

• Work alongside Product to assess business potential, market demands, competitive differentiation, and functional/technical specifications.

• Measure performance based on influenced ACV, prototype speed, transition to production, accelerator reuse, and follow-through on product gaps.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong customer-facing and commercial skills.

• Proficiency in leading technical discovery sessions and value discussions with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Capability to link technical solutions to customer outcomes and deal value.

• Ability to generalize customer solutions into reusable accelerators.

• Experience in LLM application development, RAG, prompt and context engineering, and agent orchestration.

• Sound judgment regarding single versus multi-agent patterns and managing memory and state.

• Familiarity with modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code.

• Knowledge of enterprise integrations within regulated utility markets.

• Understanding of ESRI ArcGIS/Smallworld, IBM Maximo/EAM, SAP/Oracle ERP/PPM, and PowerBI/reporting systems.

• Technical and functional knowledge of REST and streaming APIs, authentication patterns, and enterprise systems-of-record integration.

• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required, up to approximately 50% of the time.

• Preferred: background in software or data engineering with experience in shipping maintainable software.

• Preferred: proficiency in Angular, Python, or a similar programming language.

• Preferred: experience with SQL, data modeling, and ingestion/transformation/serving pipelines.

• Preferred: ability to debug imperfect customer data in live environments.

• Preferred: depth in production engineering focusing on observability, performance, and scalability.

• Preferred: experience in customer-facing technical roles, solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting, or startups.

• Preferred: prior experience with AI deployment in enterprise or regulated settings.
