Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with customers and partners to implement, deploy, and troubleshoot Harper's platform in their environments.

• Comprehend customer technical requirements, business goals, and operational limitations.

• Construct, configure, customize, integrate, and deploy solutions tailored to specific customer workflows.

• Diagnose systems, data, integration, and operational challenges during deployment and post-launch.

• Take ownership of customer outcomes from start to finish in dynamic and uncertain environments.

• Facilitate technical discussions with developers, architects, executive stakeholders, and enterprise clients.

• Assist in sales processes by providing discovery, technical guidance, and demonstrations of Harper's value proposition.

• Counsel customers on scalability, reliability, performance, security, and long-term operational strategies.

• Develop and deploy production-quality code, scripts, APIs, and automation solutions.

• Create prototypes of custom functionalities and deliver solutions ready for field deployment.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure custom solutions align with platform vision.

• Empower and enhance the skills of system integrators and technology partners.

• Co-deliver strategic projects while offering technical guidance and ensuring quality assurance.

• Develop reusable delivery assets, reference architectures, and best practice guidelines.

• Collect customer insights to inform decisions on the Product and Engineering roadmap.

• Collaborate with Sales, Professional Services, and Customer Success throughout the customer lifecycle.

• Engage in post-engagement evaluations, document lessons learned, and mentor colleagues.

• Participate in on-call rotations and provide engineering expertise during incidents and escalations.

• Utilize AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to expedite engineering, integration, and enablement tasks.

• Articulate AI models, capabilities, limitations, cost/latency trade-offs, and architectural integration to customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–10+ years of practical experience, typically involving team or senior leadership roles.

• Extensive enterprise experience with a consulting-oriented mindset.

• Proven ability to own client outcomes and navigate uncertainty.

• Authentic experience in customer-facing and presales roles.

• Hands-on development experience; capable of building, scripting, and validating solutions while using the terminal.

• Language-agnostic development background; prior experience with Node.js is not mandatory.

• Strong platform-first instincts.

• Proficient in using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.

• Working knowledge of LLMs, RAG, embeddings, agents, and AI workflows.

• Ability to implement AI concepts in tangible technical work.

• Comfort with uncertainty, ownership, and fast-paced early-stage environments.

• Exceptional communication skills with both technical professionals and business leaders.

• Willingness to engage in on-call rotations.

• Preferred: previous leadership or senior individual contributor experience within an enterprise setting.

• Preferred: experience in enabling and co-delivering projects with system integrators, channel, or technology partners.

• Preferred: practical experience with distributed systems, databases, APIs, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Preferred: familiarity with Harper or developer-focused/data infrastructure products.

• Nice to have: exposure to Node.js.

• Nice to have: knowledge of web performance and core web vitals.
