Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Spearhead significant customer technical initiatives by delivering production-grade systems, designing and constructing reference architectures, custom applications, as well as integrating data ingestion and ML/AI models.

• Provide guidance to strategic customers as they execute transformative big data projects, including comprehensive design, development, and deployment of industry-leading big data and AI applications. Collaborate with engagement managers to define the scope of technical delivery work based on customer input.

• Advise customers on architecture and design; initiate or implement customer projects that enhance their understanding, evaluation, and adoption of Databricks.

• Drive architecture and design decisions, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, and in line with customer requirements and Databricks best practices.

• Collaborate with the Databricks technical team, Project Manager, Architect, and Customer team to ensure that the technical components of the engagement are delivered to meet customer expectations.

• Partner with Engineering and Databricks Customer Support to provide product and implementation feedback, facilitating quick resolution of engagement-specific product and support challenges.

• Integrate with customer teams, engaging with stakeholders ranging from technical individual contributors to executives to gain a profound understanding of challenges and deliver impactful solutions.

• Contribute to accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that amplify impact across accounts and shape the Databricks product roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.

• Proficient in coding with either Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks.

• Familiar with two or more prevalent Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP), with expertise in at least one.

• Extensive experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark™ and understanding of Spark runtime internals.

• Knowledge of CI/CD practices for production deployments.

• Experience with MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs.

• Design and deployment of high-performing production end-to-end data architectures and applications that integrate data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user-facing interfaces.

• Proven experience in delivering technical projects, managing scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes, while translating complex concepts into actionable solutions.

• Strong documentation and whiteboarding abilities.

• Experience collaborating with enterprise clients and managing conflicts among a wide range of stakeholders.

• Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to explore new technologies that facilitate the deployment and integration of Databricks-based solutions to complete customer projects.

• Willingness to travel to customer sites 20% of the time.

• Possession of Databricks Certification.
