Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with operating companies or partners to gain insights into their operations and develop software that aligns with their workflows.

• Transition new operating companies or partners from signed agreements to active deployment.

• Organize organizations, properties, personnel, and existing systems onto the Cassi platform.

• Manage rollouts comprehensively, including periods where old and new processes operate concurrently.

• Integrate Cassi with accounting, property management, IoT, and service provider systems.

• Oversee connectors, data mappings, backfills, reconciliations, and validation of data integrity.

• Develop integrations, data pipelines, and custom automations utilizing Cassi's APIs and event-driven architecture.

• Generate partner-specific reports and workflows that are not included in the core product.

• Differentiate between one-off requirements and recurring platform gaps, recommending the integration of recurring patterns into the core product.

• Troubleshoot issues across Cassi and customer systems, responding to incidents that affect live operations.

• Use feature gates to separate deployment from release processes.

• Define the forward-deployed engineering function and ultimately build the team to support it.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node, including Node/Fastify, branded types, and strict mode.

• Experience in building integrations with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication flows, ETL paths, backfills, and data reconciliation.

• Knowledge of AWS and event-driven systems, encompassing queues, pub/sub, asynchronous processing, and failure modes in distributed systems.

• Proficiency in databases such as DynamoDB and PostgreSQL.

• Capability to interact directly with non-technical operators, translating ambiguous problems into tangible solutions, scoping work, managing expectations, and delivering results.

• Skill in rapidly moving solutions from concept to production while effectively managing errors, failure modes, and testing processes.

• Comfort with ambiguity and a strong sense of end-to-end ownership and accountability for results.

• Excellent teamwork and strategic partnership skills.

• Ability to establish trust with customers and clearly communicate project scope without overpromising.

• Highly self-driven with complete project ownership.

• Capacity to produce thorough, scalable, and clear documentation.

• Attention to detail when reviewing AI-generated content.

• An inquisitive mindset towards investigating inconsistencies and identifying issues.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
