Forward Deployed Engineer – Aerospace and Defense

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

📋 Description

• Integrate with Aerospace & Defense clients on-site and within their systems to gain insights into operations.

• Collaboratively design and deliver software alongside customers.

• Develop and test comprehensive full-stack features, encompassing services, APIs, data management, persistence, integrations, and web interfaces.

• Connect IFS to various systems including ERP, CRM, IoT, telemetry, legacy, and mission-critical systems.

• Take ownership of solution architecture in authentic customer contexts.

• Oversee automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, and operational reliability across both cloud and customer settings.

• Leverage AI-assisted and agentic development tools, integrating AI-powered product capabilities into customer environments.

• Relay field insights back into the core product and roadmap development.

• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams effectively.

• Serve as a reliable technical representative for customers and partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in designing, developing, and deploying production software across the entire stack, including backend services, APIs, data integrations, and web front ends.

• Proficiency in contemporary general-purpose programming languages.

• Significant experience working directly with customers, whether on-site or embedded within their teams, to deploy, integrate, enhance, and support enterprise software in their environments.

• Experience integrating systems such as ERP, CRM, IoT, and legacy platforms.

• Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, cloud environments, DevOps practices, and security measures.

• Proven ability to manage substantial aspects of delivery with minimal supervision.

• Capable of making well-informed architectural and quality assurance decisions under time constraints.

• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and changing priorities.

• Willingness to travel to customer locations as required by the role.

• Preferred experience in developing AI solutions, including model integration, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic architectures, evaluation and testing, as well as AI-assisted and agentic development tools.

• Background working within or alongside Aerospace & Defense organizations, or on asset, maintenance, MRO, or fleet-readiness solutions.

• Experience with enterprise asset management, field service, or maintenance management solutions.

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and working with globally distributed teams.
