Forward Deployed AI Engineer – Aerospace & Defense

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Collaborate directly with Aerospace & Defense clients at their locations and within their systems.

• Understand customer operations to collaboratively design and deliver software solutions.

• Create, develop, and evaluate comprehensive features spanning services, APIs, data, persistence, integrations, and web interfaces.

• Integrate IFS with ERP, CRM, IoT, telemetry, legacy, and mission systems.

• Take ownership of solution architecture in real-world customer scenarios.

• Oversee automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, and operational reliability in both cloud and customer settings.

• Utilize AI-driven development tools and incorporate AI-enabled features into customer environments.

• Relay field insights back into the core product and its development roadmap.

• Partner with product management and broader engineering teams.

• Act as a reliable technical advisor for customers, partners, and operations leaders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience in designing, building, and deploying production software across the full stack, including backend services, APIs, data integrations, and web front ends.

• Strong proficiency in contemporary general-purpose programming languages.

• Significant experience working closely with customers, whether on-site or embedded within their teams.

• Background in deploying, integrating, securing, and supporting enterprise software within customer environments.

• Familiarity with integrating systems such as ERP, CRM, IoT, and legacy platforms.

• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and security measures.

• Proven ability to manage critical delivery components with minimal supervision.

• Capability to make architectural and quality shipping decisions under time constraints.

• Excellent communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Comfort with ambiguity and an ability to adapt to changing priorities.

• Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed.

• Strong preference for experience in building AI solutions, including model integration, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic architectures, evaluation, testing, and/or AI-assisted development tools.

• Experience in or with Aerospace & Defense organizations, or in asset management, maintenance, MRO, or fleet-readiness solutions.

• Familiarity with enterprise asset management, field service, or maintenance management solutions.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is a plus.

• Experience with agile delivery methodologies.

• Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams.
