This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Establish and nurture strategic collaborations with the U.S. Forest Service, funding organizations, contractors, government agencies, and stakeholders.
• Spearhead the creation and execution of forest restoration initiatives and project pipelines.
• Facilitate annual work planning, coordinate partnerships, and manage the execution of agreements.
• Supervise procurement, contract management, field oversight, quality assurance, inspections, troubleshooting, and project closure.
• Act as the Timber Sale Administrator and Harvest Inspector for forestry initiatives employing thinning techniques.
• Oversee program and project budgets, contracts, reporting obligations, timelines, compliance duties, and standard operating procedures.
• Observe, record, and articulate project results and deliverables through both written and verbal reports.
• Assist in partnership expansion, fundraising, grant proposal development, and community outreach.
• Create and manage opportunities for wood utilization and biomass extraction, including Tribal firewood initiatives, in-stream watershed restoration efforts, transportation logistics, and long-term supply planning.
• Direct Arizona forestry personnel and forestry technician contractors.
• Employ advanced forestry knowledge to address complex operational, technical, and partnership challenges.
• Function as a principal forestry subject matter expert and representative in Arizona and the Southwest Region.
• Represent NFF in collaborative groups, public discussions, educational events, media interactions, and strategic communications.
• Offer technical assistance and guidance to NFF programs throughout the organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related field in natural resources (or equivalent experience).
• At least three (3) years of experience demonstrating success in forestry or conservation project management and associated community-based collaborative conservation efforts.
• Strong familiarity and experience with U.S. Forest Service policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Comprehensive understanding of natural resource issues specific to Arizona.
• Proven dedication to the mission of the NFF and environmental stewardship.
• Must possess authorization to work in the United States.
• Capability to work independently, conduct fieldwork, participate in meetings, and manage projects with minimal oversight.
• Competence in supervising and managing program staff and training new employees on NFF policies and field practices, including timber sale administration.
• Capacity to serve as a contract administrator and act as a liaison between project contractors and the U.S. Forest Service.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Skillful in collaboratively managing programs and assessing outcomes against measurable success indicators.
• Proficient in effectively handling various projects and tasks to successful completion.
• Ability to thrive and adapt in a team-oriented environment.
• Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
• Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
