Fire Safety Auditor – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.

📋 Description

• Execute on-site fire safety assessments at factory and industrial locations, which encompass opening meetings, document evaluations, facility walkthroughs, equipment inspections, and closing discussions.

• Evaluate and analyze sprinkler systems, fire hydrants and hoses, fire extinguishers, fire alarm and detection systems, as well as emergency lighting.

• Conduct fire alarm activation tests, sprinkler pressure and flow evaluations, and checks for emergency exits and egress routes.

• Review and authenticate evacuation plans, fire drill documentation, maintenance logs, and actual installations.

• Inspect egress pathways, exit doors, and fire compartmentation to ensure compliance.

• Identify non-conformities, assess risk levels, and communicate corrective recommendations to factory management.

• Compile evidence-based audit reports that include photographs and references to standard clauses.

• Conduct follow-up verification visits for critical or high-risk findings.

• Review evidence of corrective actions and provide technical clarifications.

• Stay updated on fire safety standards and enhance audit processes accordingly.

• Offer technical support to colleagues and engage in calibration and quality improvement initiatives.

• Serve factory clients throughout China and assist with projects in Southeast Asia as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in fire protection system installation, inspection, maintenance, or safety auditing within industrial, manufacturing, or factory settings; 7+ years of experience is highly preferred.

• Proven hands-on experience in fire safety inspections, including the visual evaluation of sprinkler systems, fire alarm and detection systems, hydrant systems, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting.

• Proficient in fire protection system testing methods, such as fire alarm activation tests, sprinkler pressure and flow tests, and egress and emergency lighting evaluations.

• Familiarity with international fire codes and standards (NFPA) along with Chinese national fire safety standards (GB series).

• Strong command of written and spoken English for report writing and client interactions.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively to factory sites across China and Southeast Asia, including overnight stays and multi-day field assignments.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Capacity to work independently in the field while maintaining communication and reporting standards within the team.

• Sound technical judgment with the capability to assess fire risk and effectively prioritize findings.

• Ability to manage multiple audit assignments and meet tight reporting deadlines under pressure.

• Chinese fire safety certifications are preferable; international fire safety certifications are a significant advantage.
