This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon, +1 more state.
• Accept assignments from clients for the investigation of losses or claims and conduct investigations based on assignment requirements.
• Ascertain the origin and cause of losses or claims.
• Identify potential third-party liability for subrogation purposes.
• Uphold reporting obligations to clients in line with standard procedures.
• Promote and market EFI services within the insurance sector and designated territory.
• Serve as a liaison between the insurance industry and law enforcement/fire service personnel.
• Investigate losses or claims that involve illegal, fraudulent, or subrogation components.
• Identify and interview witnesses and involved parties.
• Collect information and evidence regarding motive, opportunity, and facts related to incidents.
• Review public records, such as land deeds, mortgages, liens, lawsuits, judgments, and marriage and divorce records.
• Stay informed about privacy laws and the availability of public records.
• Perform other assigned tasks and travel as necessary.
• A minimum of Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) certification is required.
• IAAI Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI-CFI) certification is highly preferred.
• Must obtain IAAI-CFI certification within six months of employment.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in PC operations, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
