This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee and manage the Short Range Planning model for review by management, the Controller, and the Executive Director.
• Generate monthly management and budget reports.
• Evaluate the Short Range Plan against its individual components and scenarios to ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to address discrepancies.
• Handle budget and forecast submissions, analyze results, and follow up on any unexpected variances.
• Execute ad-hoc scenario analyses.
• Serve as the focal point for financial modeling and ongoing process enhancements within the team.
• Assess operational areas, including production and decisions related to capital and operating expenditures.
• Develop and sustain mini financial models along with ad-hoc models.
• Contribute to the inputs and drivers for the Long Range Plan concerning production, operating costs, and capital.
• Validate and synchronize inputs with Corporate FP&A and stakeholders during the Long Range Plan process.
• Identify significant variances and present analyses for management evaluation.
• Compare the Long Range Plan with the Short Range Plan and offer corporate feedback.
• Conduct production reporting for actuals, budgets, and forecasts, including analysis and presentations.
• Partner with the production team to integrate operational process changes into the production model.
• Uphold the integrity, timeliness, transparency, risk management, and sound controls in the flow of information.
• Ensure adherence to statutory requirements, legislation, regulations, policies, work standards, and governance.
• Maintain internal control and SOX compliance, promptly addressing any issues that arise.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA or CFA certification is highly advantageous.
• Experience in the mining or heavy industry sector is beneficial.
• Strong background in financial modeling utilizing valuation principles such as DCF, NPV, ROIC, and IRR.
• Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards, preferably within mining or natural resources.
• Capability to distill complex financial data into clear, executive-ready presentations and visualizations.
• Proficiency in recognizing financial trends, risks, and opportunities while recommending data-driven solutions.
• Ability to cultivate strong working relationships across cross-functional teams.
• Skill in driving process improvements and challenging existing norms.
